New York Fashion Week 2014

Here are six Fashion Week spring/summer trends for him, because guys need fashion tips, too!

It’s no surprise that New York Fashion Week coverage is tailored towards women’s fashion, but on the runway, men’s fashion is a big deal, too. From New York Fashion Week 2014, here are the spring and summer styles for him!

New York Fashion Week Trends for Men

The hot spring/summer 2014 trends for men as shown at New York Fashion Week range from all white suits, patterned and exotic-printed jackets, to the bomber jacket, which we saw as a hot trend for the ladies as well. Take a look at what will be on-trend come spring 2014 so the men in your life will be up to speed.

1. Color-blocking

This has been the style for a while, whether head-to-toe color blocking or just pieces with a color-blocking element. Although there were shows with color-blocked outfits, the best were color-blocked shirts. It plays on the preppy look.

2. Patterned jackets and pants

Although at Gucci the use of all over floral didn’t go over so well, patterned jackets and patterned pants is a hot trend in men’s fashion. To keep you from making the same mistake Gucci made, keep the patterns separate. Wear one pattern at a time. Wear the jacket OR the pants- not both!

Pair exotic printed jackets with a solid bottom and a simple button-down shirt or v-neck. The printed pant is nothing new to women’s fashion, but it has made its way to the men’s market. Designers that executed this well: David Hart, Mark McNairy, Todd Snyder, and Michael Bastien to name a few.

3. White suit

Diesel Black Gold, Billy Reid, Brooks Brothers, Son Jung Wan and others adorned their collection with all white suits. Classic to edgy, the look can be worn as a linen suit or jacket and pant ensemble of contrasting textures.

4. Bomber jacket

When you go shopping for yours, make sure you pick up one for him. You may need him to try it on because bomber jackets look silly if they don't fit right! In any case, the bomber jacket was an obvious trend from Fashion Week in New York wearable by men and women.
